HAGFORS MUNICIPALITY
Magical Hagfors
In the heart of Värmland lies Hagfors. Our backbone is the Klarälven River, Sweden’s longest, which connects our municipality and links us to others. People here enjoy a good life, thanks to a strong sense of community, forward-thinking spirit – and the occasional local tale told in dialect. Hagfors is full of brave and passionate people, and an active community life that offers plenty of opportunities for activities for both young and old.
Peace and Proximity Live Here
Hagfors is home to several communities, each with its own character – from urban settings to rural idylls. All offer good housing, childcare, community life, shops, and municipal services. We hope your dream of a calm and pleasant future for you and your family leads you to us. Those of us who live here coexist with the forces of nature – the wilderness is just around the corner. And when we want to, we can fly to Stockholm in just 50 minutes and then enjoy the feeling of landing back in Hagfors, where peace and proximity reside.
Untouched Wilderness and Exciting Leisure
Hagfors is a magical paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with pristine nature and excellent opportunities for recreation. There are several hiking and cycling trails, including Klarälvsbanan, Klarälvsleden, mountain bike trails, Halgåleden, and Åsenslingan. Families come to Ekesberget in Ekshärad to enjoy both downhill and cross-country skiing. Fantastic sport fishing opportunities attract many visitors and are a source of well-being for those of us who live here.

We’re proud of two unique museums: The Monica Zetterlund – Hagfors Memorial Museum and the Hagfors Railway Museum. The latter has recently taken a digital leap with a game world on Roblox called Railblox. If you’re in Ekshärad, don’t miss the 17th-century wooden church and the cemetery with its well-known wrought iron crosses. Uddeholmsladan is a venue for concerts, parties, and other events – a truly impressive setting for all kinds of gatherings. Film lovers meet at Fasaden cinema in the town center, a theater offering a high-tech movie experience beyond the ordinary.
Focus on Export-Oriented Industry
Hagfors Municipality is a regional hub for the development of automation, robotics, and additive manufacturing, and collaborates broadly to advance the Smart Industry Center Värmland.

In the service sector, there are several internationally recognized companies, particularly in software development and intellectual property.
