At Ransäter’s heritage center, you’ll find a fascinating historical setting that serves as the backdrop for several major events. The memorial homes Geijersgården and Erlandergården are also important parts of the municipality’s cultural offerings, along with the Fridolf Rhudin Museum, the Old Mill (Gamla Bruket), and the Laxholmen cultural center.

Munkfors’ industrial history dates back to the 1680s, when a mayor from Karlstad built a so-called “hammer” by the falls. Iron laid the foundation for the municipality’s economy and an industry that created many jobs. Today, several export companies in the steel industry operate here, with the entire world as their market, along with world-class electronics manufacturing. The local business community also includes many small and medium-sized enterprises across various sectors.
