More Home for Your Money

In Torsby Municipality, you get more for your money. Choose a house, an apartment, or even buy your own farm. Stretching 160 kilometers from north to south, Torsby is Värmland’s largest municipality by area. It has five towns, each with its own unique character. In Torsby town, you’ll find most of what you need. The villages in the countryside offer good services, fiber internet is available, and the local country stores serve as community hubs.

The municipality has six primary schools and twelve preschools. Stjerneskolan in Torsby offers eight upper secondary programs and is a sports school with both regional and national admissions for cross-country skiing, biathlon, alpine skiing, and football.

Did you know... Torsby is home to Sweden’s first ski tunnel, allowing for indoor skiing all year round. Inside, it’s always minus three degrees Celsius with perfect track conditions.

Nature, Skiing, and Motorsport

With nature just around the corner, there’s always something to do – and through local events, you can enjoy music, culture, or sports. Many residents are active in community associations, and volunteers play a key role in fostering togetherness.

Each year, Torsby Municipality records around 1 million overnight stays – and what visitors love, we who live here enjoy all the time. This includes the Branäs ski resort, the Torsby Ski Tunnel, and the Sport Center. Keep an eye out for world-class athletes in biathlon and cross-country skiing!

The Klarälven River, with its winding meanders, defines the northern landscape – perfect for fishing or a canoe trip. Motorsport is also popular here, with several annual events including the World Championship in Rallycross, the Swedish Championship in Crosskart, and local folk racing competitions.

Collaboration Strengthens Local Business

Torsby Municipality actively collaborates with the business community across a range of areas, and the business climate is strong. Key success factors include a willingness to cooperate and a high level of engagement. One major advantage is the strategic geographic location – “in the middle of everything” – as part of Värmland and close to both Norway and Dalarna. The local economy is dominated by manufacturing industries, tourism including retail, forestry, and construction. Torsby Hospital is one of the largest employers.

Torsby Airport offers two daily round-trip flights to Arlanda on weekdays, and with the international airport Gardermoen nearby, the world is never far away.

For adults, the Lärcenter provides courses and education opportunities, including distance learning for nursing. Klarälvdalens Folk High School is located in Stöllet.
